Brief Overview: This presentation will focus on how Dr. Siders with the Traverse Bay Children’s Advocacy Center worked to design and implement trauma-informed trainings for schools, law enforcement, and other community partners. An overview of essential components and stages of the training will be reviewed as well as the challenges encountered in implementing the program within different systems. An opportunity for discussion will be provided to generate ideas on how to develop the programming in other communities.
Expert Presenter: Amelia Siders, PhD, is the Clinical Director of the Traverse Bay Children’s Advocacy Center. She is a Licensed Psychologist who has been providing treatment for survivors of abuse, neglect, and witness to violence for over 20 years. She is trained in TF-CBT, EMDR, and several other trauma-informed treatment modalities. Dr. Siders has been certified as an expert witness for the Department of Justice and provides training and consultation in the areas of complex trauma, substance abuse, assessment, and trauma-informed practice. She is also an adjunct faculty for Western Michigan University.
